EastEnders – Season 2 Plot Summary

EastEnders – Season 2 opened in January 1986, immediately immersing viewers in developing family tensions. A central storyline involved Den Watts and Angie Watts, whose tumultuous marriage reached a peak. Angie attempted suicide in February, and later told Den she had a terminal illness in October, a lie intended to prevent him from leaving her for his mistress, Jan Hammond. This deception unraveled, leading to Den serving Angie with divorce papers on Christmas Day 1986, an event that drew record viewership.

Elsewhere in Albert Square, Michelle Fowler, still a teenager, gave birth to her daughter, Vicki Fowler, in May. Arthur Fowler faced legal trouble after robbing the Christmas club money, leading to his arrest in November and a subsequent breakdown. Naima is visited by Mr Gill from The Firm, who takes cash from her till. Mr Gill then goes to the Vic looking for Den but he is not there. DS Quick asks Nick for help finding information on a bank raid. Den catches Angie and Andy together.
